When I play Appetite for Destruction, do I choose a friendly Unit, or can any friendly Unit satisfy the effect later this turn?
You do not have to chose ahead of time a Unit. The condition will be met the first time a friendly Unit wins a fight.
If a Unit steals a Gig because of Appetite for Destruction, does that count as that Unit stealing a Gig for effects that trigger when that Unit steals a Gig?
Yes.
If the friendly Unit cannot defeat the rival Unit but still wins the fight, does it still steal a Gig?
Yes.
